UK Journalists - Vape Battery Disposal & Recycling

I was wondering if my network might be able to help with something we’re working on. We’re working with a client looking into the environmental impact of vapes, particularly what happens to them and their batteries once they’ve been used. We’ve just surveyed 1,000 people across the UK to understand how people dispose of their vapes, what they think about recycling them, and whether they see vape waste as an issue. Some of the findings raise a bigger question: are people actually being given enough information and opportunity to dispose of these devices properly? So, we’re now digging a little deeper into the story and would really like to hear from people who see this issue first-hand, whether you’re a journalist, work in local government, or work in waste management or recycling. Journalists: Are you covering waste, recycling, sustainability, consumer behaviour, batteries or the environmental impact of vaping? We’d be very happy to share our data and chat about the story. If there’s an angle you think we’re missing, we’d be really interested to hear it. Councillors and council teams: What are you seeing in your area? Is it easy for residents to know where a used vape should go? Are vapes still turning up in household bins or recycling? We can share our data on what people believe and would be interested to see whether that matches what you’re seeing locally. Waste and recycling professionals: What do you think people misunderstand about disposing of vapes and their batteries? And what are you seeing on the ground? We’re building this into a wider story and would love to include local examples, expert perspectives, useful stats or experiences from the people dealing with this day to day.
