UK Nannies - Surprising Stories That Make Parents Stop Scrolling

Okay nannies… I’ve been given a challenge. And I think we should take it. Yesterday I posted about my frustration that, when the media wants to write about nannies, they so often turn to the same stories: -The highest salaries -The private jets -The celebrity families -The royal households -The outrageous requests We all know these stories exist. But they represent a tiny percentage of our profession — and there are already so many articles about them. Then a journalist from The Times commented on my post. She said she’s always looking for new angles for her parenting articles and challenged me to come up with something that would make a parent stop scrolling and click on the story — or buy the paper. Well…Challenge accepted. So now I need your help. I want to hear from nannies. What is your story? Not necessarily the biggest or most dramatic story. Not “I work for a celebrity.” Not “I earn £100k.” I’m looking for something that would make someone who isn’t a nanny think: “Wow. I had no idea.” Maybe you’ve had an unusual career journey. Maybe you’ve developed a fascinating specialism. Maybe you’ve experienced something that says something bigger about families or childhood today. Maybe you’ve solved a problem in a completely unexpected way. Maybe you’ve been a nanny for 20, 30 or 40 years and have seen the profession change beyond recognition. Or maybe you’ve got a story that would make a brilliant newspaper feature and you don’t even realise it. I’m looking for stories that are interesting, unexpected, thought-provoking, funny, surprising or genuinely new. So… over to you.
