UK Parents-Teachers-Teens on Social Media Ban Debate for The Guardian

The UK government is considering a ban on social media use for under-16s as part of efforts to limit mobile phone use among young people. This consultation aims to gather views from young people, parents, and teachers on whether the ban would be helpful or if there are better ways to protect children online. The Guardian is seeking firsthand experiences and opinions related to the effects of social media on children and young teenagers. We’d like to hear from young people, parents and teachers about how you feel about the proposed ban. Do you think an outright ban would help, or are there better ways to protect children online? Young people, we’re keen to hear about your experiences of using social media when you were younger. Did you see content you wish you hadn’t? Do you feel social media had a positive or negative effect on you? Parents and teachers, would tighter restrictions make a difference to behaviour, concentration or wellbeing?
