WHS Professionals in NSW - Psychosocial Code Impact Three Years On
Three years of an enforceable psychosocial code in Queensland. What actually changed? π€
I sat down with Kylie L., WHS and Psychosocial Risk Consultant and Founder of Support & Safety Solutions, for the latest in our Psychosocial Practice Conversations series.
Her answer was honest: She says, awareness moved a lot. The work itself, not so much.
π¬ "The paperwork has moved faster than the controls."
A few ideas from Kylie that stuck with me:
β A worker taking a shortcut isn't careless. Ask why the shortcut developed.
β The biggest gap isn't missing documents. It's the missing line from identifying a problem to changing the work to checking people are less exposed.
β Supervisors don't need psychology. They need practical skills, clear boundaries and management support.
β For NSW organisations: pick one real area of exposure and work it properly from start to finish.
With the NSW code now in force, this is a useful read for anyone in WHS, People and Culture or operations. Swipe through for the full conversation π
Thank you, Kylie, for your time and your candour. π
If you work in this space and want to take part in the NSW Psychosocial Practice Industry Scan, or a conversation like this one, I'd love to hear from you.
