Women & Transport Staff in Birmingham - Public Transport Harassment

I don’t often do posts like this - but this is Amy Gaffney and me doing one of the millions of great things we get to do because we work at Birmingham Mail Amy and I have had the pleasure of covering dozens of stories together since she’s been here - but I wanted to put out another call for one cause particularly close to our hearts. ❤️ Both Ames and I are leading a campaign for women’s safety on public transport - and generally making sure everyone feels the most safe they can be in and around Birmingham and while on a train, bus, tram etc. We have both been harassed on transport multiple times and in the city - and at only 22 and 23 and with a whole life in front of us we decided it’s time to try and make a difference in any way we can. Do you know the number 61016? Or when to use 81018? We want to hear from you about your experiences in and around Birmingham and on public transport in the Midlands, and if you work in the transport sector - and have felt harassed at work - do also get in touch - it’s about safety awareness for all. My email is [email redacted] while Amy’s is [email redacted] P.S Amy is one of the best journalists I know who also happens to have become one of my best friends because of journalism. It’s impactful in more ways than you know 😊 #journalism #journalist #campaign #women #safety #womenssafety #publictransport #transport
