Women 18+ & Gynaecologists & Physios - Pelvic Floor Overlooked

Hi, I'm working on a story for The Indian Express about something I wish I'd learnt much earlier: the pelvic floor. We spend years learning about periods, contraception and pregnancy prevention, yet many of us know surprisingly little about the muscles that support our bladder, bowel and reproductive organs. For many women, the pelvic floor only enters the conversation when something goes wrong, whether that's urinary leaks, constipation, pelvic pain, painful sex or childbirth. The story will explore why pelvic floor health remains overlooked in women's health education, why pelvic floor dysfunction isn't limited to postpartum women, and why younger women can also experience symptoms without recognising the underlying cause. I'm looking to speak with: 🔹 Women (18+) who only discovered the importance of their pelvic floor after experiencing symptoms such as urinary leakage, constipation, pelvic pain, painful intercourse, pelvic heaviness or other bladder and bowel issues. If your understanding of pelvic floor health changed because of a personal experience, I'd love to hear your story. 🔹 Gynaecologists and physiotherapists who can explain the role of the pelvic floor, common misconceptions, early signs of dysfunction that are often overlooked, what assessments involve, and why pelvic floor education should start long before pregnancy. If you're willing to share your experience or expertise, please comment below or send me a direct message mentioning your WhatsApp number, where I can share a few questions. #journorequest
