AAA Members & Park Rangers - Travel Disruptions & Campground Mistakes
Source Requests: Travel Disruptions & Park Rangers/Campground Employees
I'm sourcing quotes for two articles: a piece on travel disruptions for The Extra Mile and a piece on campground etiquette for Fodor's Travel.
If you'd like to provide a quote or know someone I should speak to, please feel free to reach out to me directly. [email redacted]
1. Travel disruptions
I’m working on a story about how travelers are budgeting for disruptions in today’s travel landscape and would love to hear from U.S.-based travelers (especially AAA members).
Have recent travel disruptions—like delays, cancellations, long security lines, or government shutdown concerns—changed how you plan or spend? For example, have you purchased CLEAR/PreCheck, added travel insurance, or built extra flexibility into your budget?
I’m especially interested in:
How your travel habits have changed
Any disruption-related experiences that reshaped how you plan trips
2. Campground mistakes
I’m working on a reported story about the most common mistakes inexperienced campers and glampers make, and I’m especially seeking input from park rangers, campground hosts, park employees, and former park staff.
I’m interested in the issues you see most often, including:
unsafe behavior around wildlife
poor campground etiquette
improper food storage
being underprepared for weather or terrain
unrealistic expectations about campground amenities or conditions
I’d also consider quotes from experienced outdoor travelers with a particularly strong anecdote or “wish I’d known that sooner” lesson.
