Adults Raised Privileged in Europe - Choosing Simpler & Authentic Life
Did anyone here grow up privileged and later feel disconnected from that world?
Did anyone here grow up with money/status and later realize they actually wanted a much simpler life?
I’m interested in the emotional side of this — not politics or anti-rich discourse, but the feeling that external privilege doesn’t necessarily create meaning, closeness or happiness.
Things like:
pressure from family expectations
feeling disconnected from the world you grew up in
wanting less status and more authenticity
choosing simplicity over prestige
Curious whether others here have experienced something similar.
(As context: I’m researching themes around this topic for a documentary project in Europe.)
