African Creators & Ecosystem Leaders - Billion-Dollar Creators

People keep asking, "Where is Africa's MrBeast?" I think we're asking the wrong question. The better question is: What kind of ecosystem produces billion-dollar creator businesses in the first place? In the second article of my series, The Creator Economy by Design, I argue that extraordinary creators are rarely the product of talent alone. They emerge from ecosystems built on infrastructure, investment, education, payment systems, intellectual property, trusted institutions and markets that reward creativity. The article explores: • Why the "self-made creator" is largely a myth. • The invisible infrastructure behind globally successful creator businesses. • Why Africa already has the talent—but needs stronger systems. • How governments, investors, universities, telecoms and platforms each have a role to play. • Why the real goal isn't to create influencers, but creative enterprises. As part of this research, I'm looking to interview creators, policymakers, investors, platform leaders, telecom executives, academics and entrepreneurs from across Africa. Who do you think has a perspective that deserves to be part of this conversation? Please tag them below or send me a message. I'd be delighted to connect.
