AI Governance Executives - Evidence Human Oversight Is Meaningful
Your AI governance framework says a human is in the loop.
Good.
Now answer four questions:
Does that person understand enough to challenge the AI?
Do they have enough time to think?
Are they actually allowed to disagree?
And if they're right and the AI is wrong, can they stop what happens next?
Because eventually the accountability question reaches leadership.
And “a human reviewed it” may not be a very satisfying answer when that person never had meaningful authority over the outcome.
This week's CyberAI Governance Series examines two real cases and research published in npj Digital Medicine that challenge one of the most reassuring assumptions in AI governance:
Human presence isn't the same thing as human judgment.
The Human Was in the Loop. So What Went Wrong?
I'd especially like to hear from executives responsible for AI governance:
What evidence would convince you that human oversight inside your organization is actually meaningful?
