Altadena Wildfire Recovery Residents for WSJ Anniversary Story
Wall Street Journal interview inquiry about Altadena wildfire recovery
Hi there, my name is Rebecca Picciotto. I’m a housing reporter with the Wall Street Journal. I'm working on a story for the anniversary of the wildfires in January. One year later, we are interested where Altadena’s rebuild stands: Who is leading the charge? What has gotten in the way?
I’m interviewing Altadena residents about their experiences through the wildfire recovery this year. If anyone in this group is open to a conversation, I'd appreciate the opportunity to hop on a phone or video call.
These are some topics I’d like to talk about:
What stage of recovery are you at? (Rebuilding or relocating? Searching for temporary housing? Waiting for insurance? Etc.)
What have been the biggest obstacles for you so far this year?
Where have you found assistance/resources/aid to help you through the recovery and/or rebuilding process? (Nonprofit groups? Government programs? Friends/family? Etc.)
In your experience so far, what has the role of government been in Altadena’s recovery?
Have you noticed more people rebuilding with more housing on their lots? (Adding ADUs? RVs? Duplexes/triplexes? etc.)
If I left something out, and you have other experiences you’d like to share, it would be great to learn about those too. You can reach me at [email redacted] to set up a phone or video call.
All the best,
Rebecca
