Americans - Affordability Challenges Amid Inflation Outpacing Wages

Americans aren’t feeling too great about the economy. Survey data shows consumer sentiment remains worse than in the pandemic years. Wage growth consistently below inflation is a big reason. Almost three-quarters of consumers think inflation would outpace their income growth over the next year. "Consumers' frustration over the erosion of their purchasing power continues to mount," Joanne Hsu, University of Michigan's surveys of consumers director, said.
