Looking for Austinites for a documentary about dating and connection \Received permission from Mods for this post\] Hi r/AskAustin, I’m Ravi, an Austin filmmaker directing Jaded, a feature documentary about dating and connection in our city. I keep coming back to a question: has modern life made it easier to avoid the uncomfortable parts of getting close to someone? Through dating, friendships, and everyday life in Austin, I want to explore how technology and the convenience we’ve grown used to shape the way we connect. We currently have two subjects, and we’re looking for a few more people open to letting us follow parts of their lives over several months. Filming could include spending time with friends, getting ready for a date, and talking through how things are going. You don’t need an extraordinary dating history or experience on camera. Whether you’re enjoying dating, feeling discouraged, or taking a break, I’d be interested in hearing from you. This isn’t a dating show. We won’t arrange matches or stage situations. Participation is unpaid, and we’ll discuss what filming involves and your boundaries before you decide whether to take part. We’re also looking for established couples in their 40s, 50s and older for separate 1–2 day interviews about how they met and what they’ve been through together.
