Boston Tenants on Early Lease Renewal Experiences for MassLive

Local journalist writing about apartment lease renewals Hello! My name is Tréa Lavery and I'm a housing reporter for MassLive.com here in Boston. I'm currently working on a story about the lease renewal process and some of the unique challenges in our area, and am looking for tenants who are willing to share their experience. In particular, I'm looking at how early many tenants are asked to re-sign their lease for another year, especially those on the 9/1 cycle, who I know from personal experience are likely having those conversations right around now if they haven't already. If you're a tenant and have ever had a landlord ask you about re-signing 10 months in advance, been offered a discount on next year's rent if you re-sign by a certain date (or the opposite - threatened with an increase if you don't meet a deadline), had to scramble to find a subletter because you signed a lease months before learning about a move or anything similar, I would love to talk to you!
