British Expats - Considering Return To UK - Lifestyle Downgrade

I'm curious - any British expats thinking of moving back to the UK but worry it would be a lifestyle downgrade? I'd love to speak to British expats who moved abroad to work remotely for a better life, lower cost-of-living, cheaper lifestyle, more luxurious life, but for whatever reason is thinking of returning to the UK (ageing parents, better schooling for kids, missing the UK and less extreme weather), but is put off by how expensive the UK has become/pricy housing. Perhaps worried moving back might be a downgrade in lifestyle (atm they can afford to have a huge house, cleaner, cook etc) Or feel stuck now they've moved away as it's too expensive to go back/buy the same size property they sold in Britain years ago?
