Food insecurity in Canada has reached unprecedented levels, transforming what was once considered a temporary social issue into a persistent national crisis. Food bank visits in Canada have nearly doubled since 2019. I’m working on a story about how restaurants, distributors, suppliers, food rescue organizations, and hospitality operators are stepping into a larger social role — not only through charitable giving, but through operational innovation, food rescue initiatives, partnerships, and sustainability strategies.
