Canadian Trade Leaders - USMCA Review Tariffs & Export Diversification

It's been a wild year and a bit since starting this new role, so I figured it was time to reintroduce myself as we get closer to a key July 1 deadline. I am an international trade reporter in the Ottawa bureau of The Logic, where I report on Canada’s evolving economic relationship with the rest of the world. I’m diving into a few critical areas: The Canada-U.S. relationship: This includes tracking the review of the North American trade pact (CUSMA/USMCA/T-MEC), the impact of Section 232 tariffs on major Canadian industries and the state of Ottawa’s talks with the White House. Global disruption and diversification: I’m keeping a close eye on Canada’s push to double non-U.S. exports and attract more foreign investment. Domestic fixes: I’m covering efforts to shore up the auto industry, including with EVs, as well as boost productivity by reducing barriers to interprovincial trade. (This is about a lot more than “free the booze” but I love those stories too.)
