Criminal Defense Attorneys - Extortion Trials Vs Plea Deals

Extortion cases taken to trial How many of you have been part of trials where the defendant who is accused of extortion? Im currently writing a story on a case and it seems the defendant is willing to take it to trial. Ive seen most of the evidence (all texts and emails) sent to the victim and other parties. Defendant also posted other threats online to harm other people (video) (also posted a picture of the restraining order placed against them too with victims name and address) Defendant is on their second lawyer now. DA’s office hasn’t released (to me) if they offered a plea deal yet either. Not sure if they actually have or just with holding info. How many of you have seen these types of cases actually go to trial? Im not sure if the defendant is stubborn or incapable of understanding the potential of their risks.
