DSA Members - Animal Welfare & Rights Integration Into Party Politics

Looking to interview DSA members who care about animal welfare/rights Hey! I’m hoping to interview DSA members for an article I’m writing about how animal welfare/animal rights concerns can be better integrated into the organization’s politics. Unfortunately, with three young children, I can only do email interviews right now. If you have time, please send me answers to the attached questions. My address [email redacted]. I will likely submit the resulting article to a variety of leftist outlets. Best, Jon Hochschartner Connecticut DSA What’s your name? Can you provide a brief biography of yourself, that includes some reference to your DSA affiliations and activities? How would you describe your views about animals? Do you seek to reduce animal suffering within existing structures of animal use or abolish these altogether? If the latter, are you willing to pursue welfare reforms on the road to abolition? In terms of organizational maneuvering, what’s the best path forward for getting animal issues taken more seriously within DSA? For example, should a working group or issue-specific publication be formed? If you could get every DSA political candidate to back one plausible, pro-animal policy position, what would it be? For instance, I’d like all candidates to support public funding for cultivated-meat research, because, in Marxist terms, I think cellular agriculture has the potential to change society’s base and thus alter its superstructure. Is there anyone else you think I should interview on this topic? Can you pass this message along to them or provide me with their contact information?
