Elder Law Solicitors - Family Protection Trusts Suitability & Exit

When Lucy's father-in-law died in 2023, she and her husband were not only dealing with grief. They also discovered he'd placed his home into a trust that he believed would protect his estate from inheritance tax and potential care home fees. Lucy says the arrangement left the family facing more than £50,000 in tax and extra costs. I've also been speaking to another person who, four years after her parents' death, still cannot access the estate and her inheritance because the law firm that set up the trust has since gone bust. Are any solicitors / legal specialists able to shed light on whether these Family Protection Trusts / Property Protection Trusts are ever suitable? And how can people get out of one if they have concerns? I feel this is an important story that I'm planning to cover soon. #journorequest
