𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 | 𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆'𝘀 𝗔𝗪𝗦 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 Just wrapped an inspiring conversation with Larry G. — and I had to share this. The full interview is coming soon. A year ago, Larry interviewed for AWS and didn’t get the role. He was working 12-hour shifts as a diagnostic electrician on a copper mine… then going home and studying until 2 a.m. No feedback. No offer. He also didn’t quit. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻: • STAR stories ready • Amazon Leadership Principles dialed in (especially Earn Trust) • Mock interviews + every resource he could find He just finished his first week at AWS (IAH – Wharton, Texas). Larry’s path: Air Force (satellite & telemetry) → AAS in Electronics Engineering Technology → high-voltage motors & controls on a copper mine. He saw the physical toll of traditional electrical work and the explosive growth in data centers — and decided he wanted a smarter career that would still let him play with his grandson years from now. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁: ✳️He treated the first rejection as free practice, not the end. If you’re in the trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.) and wondering whether a move into data centers is realistic — it is. The demand is real, the training is there, and the growth opportunities (both sideways and up) are unlike anything most of us saw in traditional construction.
