Salary transparency is something I strongly believe in, so I'm excited to be overseeing the relaunch of Business Insider's Salary Journeys series! Through each article in the series, we'll explore how the featured individual's income has evolved, what it's meant for their life, and their advice for others.
To kick the series off, I spoke with Carmen P, a 29-year-old VP of product strategy and development at a multi-national bank, who started her career eight years ago making $35,000 and who now makes $155,000 a year.
"I think of my student loans from my MBA as my subscription to life," she told me. "I wouldn't be able to have the opportunities that I have — now and in the future — if it weren't for this $700 payment every month."
