Editors of the world, rejoice (for now): AI hasn't come for your job (yet). I should know: I spent all summer "working" with an AI version of my editor. At one point, I convinced it to write a whole new version of an article (it was bad), and it never pushed back on my ideas — instead, it often offered to rewrite, revise, reframe, and even draft on my behalf. If you've met an editor, you'd know that's not their job. But my experience with RyanBot (named for Ryan Kailath, who will now forever be immortalized online as a robot head) turned more into an existential rumination on leadership and management — and what it means to navigate humans in the workplace.
