Fashion Brands Featuring 50+ Models - Product Page Representation

Fashion is finally putting older women on the runway, but the website isn't looped in. That gap, between what brands celebrate and actually sell, is the focus of my latest piece. It started with a question Rachel Solomon posed to her readers: can anyone name a brand that features older women on their product pages, where the clothes are actually sold? Aside from Rachel Comey, nobody really could. The 50-plus cohort holds half of all spending power. Over-55s account for more than 70% of US wealth. And yet mature shoppers are still being asked to squint past a 24-year-old and imagine themselves into the frame. I've been writing about fashion for years, most recently for the Wall Street Journal Off Duty, and this is exactly the kind of gap I started The Edit Etc. to explore.
