Athlete Identity & Transition
Athletes spend so much of their careers preparing for competition.
They train, compete, grow, and pursue their goals.
But there’s another part of the journey that deserves just as much conversation:
What comes next?
That question is at the heart of the Athlete Identity & Transition series I’m continuing to build.
For many athletes, transitioning beyond competition can bring a mix of excitement, uncertainty, opportunity, and reflection.
Sport may have been a major part of your routine, community, confidence, relationships, and identity. When that chapter changes, it can also be an opportunity to discover new parts of yourself and explore possibilities you may not have considered before.
I want to help bring more of these stories to light.
I want to hear from former athletes who have navigated that transition — whether you stayed in sports, moved into coaching or leadership, built a business, pursued education, entered media, changed industries, or took some time to figure out what was next.
Not just the polished success stories.
The real stories.
The uncertainty.
The unexpected opportunities.
The lessons.
The moments that shaped you.
The things you learned about yourself along the way.
Because somewhere, another athlete may be standing at the beginning of their own
transition and wondering what life can look like beyond competition.
Your experience could help them see what’s possible.
If you’re a former athlete and would be open to sharing your journey, I’d love to connect https://lnkd.in/gPhZ6XMy
And if you know a former athlete whose story beyond sport deserves to be heard, feel free to tag them or share this with them.
