French Costume Historian - Defecating Toy Clothing Era & Class

I am working on an article on the history of the defecating toy, and I am looking for any expertise on the history of French clothing. I believe this toy comes from France (it resembles some of the early German toys out of Thuringia, but I think it was made a little later, or at least in a city with more practiced sculptors and painters), and the French antique seller I bought it from dated it to the end of the 19th century. Can anyone tell me what social class and era this clothing is meant to evoke? I am uncertain if I would call this woman a proletarian or a peasant (perhaps even a prostitute?), and cursory image searches make me uncertain when to date the clothing. I am not trying to date the toy by dating the style of dress (in fact I suspect they may be very different). Disclaimer: I am able to use Google Image Search and ArtSTOR as well as you, guesses won't help me, and I will delete any comment that tries to tell me what an AI "said". I am hoping for insight from an expert who can take one look and say "Ah, yes, this is clearly..."
