Gen X Black Women in Chicago - Longtime Sky Fans

Gen X Black women in Chicago who are Sky fans: I want to uplift your voice for a story! Hi! I’m a Black reporter at a Chicago-based, Black-owned publication looking to talk with older millennials and Gen X Black women (40 and up) about their place in Chicago basketball culture. Basketball means something special to Chicago and I want to uplift the voices of older Black women who know the game well and have been specifically supporting the Sky for years. Folks like Candace Parker and Derrick Rose have had women supporting their careers from the very beginning in Chicago. These women can sometimes know ball better than the commentators. Given the rise of the WNBA and the Sky in the last few years, I am curious to know what it means to be a fan of a team that seems to market to everyone but the specific demographic (older Black women), what little girls interested in sports should know from seeing you take up space and why they believe basketball is forever exciting within the Black community and especially in Chicago. :) If this is you or someone you know, please let me know, I’d love to chat!!
