Gen Z 18-27 - Finfluencers' Impact on Investing Decisions
Gen Z is learning money from Instagram reels, YouTube breakdowns, Discord chats, Reddit threads, and Telegram “insider” groups before we approach a bank or a certified financial advisor.
But somewhere between “financial education” and “content creation,” the lines are getting blurry.
How many creators are genuinely educating?
How many are just chasing engagement?
And when things crash… who actually takes the hit?
I’m currently working on a story for ETBFSI on finfluencers and their impact on Gen Z, and the growing culture of social media-driven financial decisions.
I’m looking to speak to people aged 18–27 who have:
• invested because of a reel/video/post
• joined stock/crypto Telegram or WhatsApp groups
• experienced financial FOMO online
• lost money after following viral advice
• feel social media has become their main source of financial education
Or if you have a strong take on whether finfluencers are democratizing finance or just exploiting young investors, I want your raw perspective.
