IDEA-STEM Director - Inclusion & Anti-Ableism in STEM

One of the things I care most about in the work we are doing with @A11YVERSE is making sure the stories that matter get told. IDEA-STEM is one of those stories. Founded by Dr. Mahadeo Sukhai and Ainsley Latour, two scientists who lived the barriers they set out to change, IDEA-STEM is a disability led organization transforming how accessibility and anti-ableism are practiced in STEM, healthcare, and education. April Assenza, Director of Strategic Development, has been central to expanding this work. Drawing from her own lived experience with mental health challenges, she has helped IDEA-STEM grow from a research-rooted consultancy into an organization that is actively shaping how inclusion is practiced across industries. Their belief is simple and worth repeating. "Access is collective, care is non-coercive, and inclusion should never require assimilation." We just published their full A11YVERSE Inc Spotlight. You can find it at A11YVERSE platform under Spotlights. We are also less than two months away from the A11YVERSE x IAAP Canada National Accessibility Leadership Summit on June 8 at Deloitte Toronto. Visit A11YVERSE platform to see the full agenda and register. A11YVERSE is free and open to anyone in the accessibility space, anywhere in the world. If you want your story told or want to join the community, reach out. #Accessibility #Inclusion #STEM #DisabilityLed #A11YVERSE
