Immigrant Residents in Jersey City for NJCU Documentary
Hi everyone,
I’m working on a documentary that celebrates the incredible diversity of Jersey City by highlighting the stories of immigrants who’ve made this place their home. I'm especially looking to speak with people living in neighborhoods like:
Bergen-Lafayette
West Bergen
Greenville
The Heights
Downtown
Journal Square
The Waterfront
West Side Avenue
If you’re an immigrant living in Jersey City and open to sharing your experience—what brought you here, what community means to you, and how you connect with your neighborhood—I’d love to hear from you.
The goal of this project is to honor the voices and stories that shape the soul of the city. Interviews would be filmed with your consent, and we’re happy to work around your schedule and comfort level.
If you're interested (or even just curious), please comment below or DM me directly.
Thank you! 🧡
Edit:
Hey everyone—just wanted to respond to some of the comments and clear a few things up.
I completely understand how protective folks are of their privacy and safety—especially when it comes to sharing personal stories. That’s something I really respect.
This is a student-led project (I’m currently studying at NJCU), with no ties to any government agency or corporation. It’s just me and a small team hoping to highlight the beauty and diversity of Jersey City through the real experiences of people who live here.
If you're open to being part of it, you can absolutely stay anonymous—we can blur your face, record just your voice, or change your name. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.
If you’d like to know more, I’m more than happy to share details about the project or connect you with my professor.
The goal here is simple: to honor the voices that truly make Jersey City what it is.This city is full of heart and history, and I just want to make something that reflects that—with care, not extraction.
