Indian Gen Z Women - Reimagining Bindis Bangles As Everyday Fashion
Hello people!
For my next story, I'm working on how Gen Z women are reimagining traditional Indian fits and accessories like bindis and bangles as self-expression. For many millennials, these elements were often tied to tradition, expectation, or occasion-wear. But Gen Z seems to be embracing it by pairing “Komolika-style” statement bindis with halter necks, mixing ethnic with Y2K-inspired fits, and even embracing sarees and bangles in everyday workwear without seeing them as a contradiction to modern identity.
I'm looking to speak to:
1. Gen Z women (both fashion creators and regular users) who are actively incorporating bindis, bangles, or ethnic elements into contemporary styling.
2. Millennial women who have noticed or experienced this shift in perception firsthand
3. Founders/designers of indie brands (especially Gen Z-led labels) reviving traditional aesthetics in modern ways
4. Fashion experts/stylists who can contextualise this shift within larger trend cycles (Y2K, nostalgia-core, etc.)
