Dear LinkedIn network, I amvery happyto share thatI amfinallyable toresume the interviewing for my research project ‘State repression against Belarusian academia[working title]’. The aim of thisresearch project is to provide anin-depthstudyofstaterepressionas it relates to Belarusian academiasurrounding the2020 election period. Itwilldirectly engage with the experiences of the academics who were eitherdismisseddue to their political stance or who were forcedto leave their employment due tothepolitical reasons. This research will study the policies and methods(and their evolution)thathave beenusedagainst Belarusian academia by the regimein order tosuppress its dissent. It willalsoreflect on theconsequences to the system ofBelarusianhigher educationoftherepressionof academia and thefuture prospectsforit. Finally, it will explore the waysthe Belarusian academics could be aided by the international communityand the most beneficial ways they have been aided so far. Thus, I am looking to interview the members of Belarusian academiccommunity (both established and early career researchers)whohave been dismissed from their position or chose to leave the employment and (even the country) due to political reasonsduring the period of 2010onwards. Due to thesensitivenature of the topic, full anonymity of the participants will be guaranteed and the data concerning theprojectwillbesecurelystoredat all stages of the project. Theintervieweeswillbe alsoprovided withanoptionoffillingout a questionnaireinstead of being interviewed. I would reallyappreciate itif you could share it with colleagues who may findthisofrelevance to them. You can reach me via email:[email redacted](this email account expires in May) &[email redacted] Wishing everyone a great start to your week! Best wishes, Ruta
