Journalist callout: how much have you spent accumulatively on a K-pop concert in the US/UK/Europe?
Hello! I'm a journalist and am currently working on a piece about what K-pop concerts in the West (particularly in the US, UK and Europe) are actually costing fans when you factor in everything in addition to the price of the ticket itself.
Things like: fan club membership for pre-sale access, soundcheck packages, VIP tiers, official lightsticks, send-off events, etc. There are obviously fans who are more frugal with how they spend their money on K-pop shows, but I'm particularly interested in super fans who have forked out sizable amounts of money to see their ult biases up-close. Absolutely no shame – I myself have spent four figures to see mine! I'd just like to hear from others who have done the same in order to document that experience as accurately as I can.
I'm looking for help with my piece from fans who:
• Attended a K-pop show in the US, UK and/or Europe in 2023-2026 (the more recent, the better)
• Can roughly walk me through everything they spent from fan club membership to show d-day
• Are willing to share their experience, even if they'd rather not be named
• Bonus if you've also visited Korea to see the same show (not including travel and holiday expenses, just the cost of attendance at the show)
Full anonymity is completely fine if that's a concern for you. You won't be identified, your spending details won't be attributed to you by name and you can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. It's not something to be embarrassed about – everyone has the right to spend their hard-earned money however they wish.
I'm especially keen to hear from fans of bigger groups like Stray Kids, BTS (particularly their Arirang tour), BLACKPINK, TWICE, ENHYPEN, etc. Honestly if you've attended any K-pop Western tour stop and kept track of how much you spent, I want to hear from you.
Drop a comment or DM me directly. Happy to answer questions about the piece before you share anything! Thank you so much \^\_\^
