Lawyers in Wales - Miscarriages Of Justice & Pro Bono Work

One of my greatest pleasures is to meet incredible people in the legal profession and share their story - it never feels like work. And when their career shapes matters in the public interest, it’s hard to call time on the narrative. My thanks to Glyn Maddocks KC for so much of his time today to talk about miscarriages of justice, the state of our justice system in England and Wales, the role of journalists, inspiring the next generation, and so much more. We will publish a two-part podcast for the Legal News Wales hosted Resilient Legal Sector podcast as we barely touched the surface in the first hour. 🎙️ Glyn - a tireless advocate and lifelong champion for justice has a career spanning almost four decades. He has worked on high-profile civil and criminal cases, represented victims of tragedy and institutional failure, and advised on legal reform at the highest levels. But it is his unwavering commitment to miscarriage of justice cases - many of which are largely pro bono - that has defined his legacy. Glyn won the Legal Hero Wales Award at the Legal News Wales Awards 2025 and I can’t wait to share his reflections and messages for the profession with you all - especially as we head into our 2026 awards ceremony in June. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 We need more lawyers like Glyn and we need to celebrate their work.
