Local Sources - AI Surveillance & Privacy in Public Infrastructure

Working on a journalism project about AI & privacy, anyone have stories or thoughts to share? I'm a local student working on a journalism project focused on AI, mass surveillance, and privacy , specifically looking at how quickly AI is being integrated into public infrastructure (OpenAI/pentagon deal, facial recognition, predictive policing, data collection, smart city tech, etc.) and whether our laws and regulations are keeping up with the pace of that change. I think AI can have a lot of benefits but the rollout is happening faster than governments can meaningfully study the risks or put guardrails in place. I'd love for this piece to include a local perspective since I go to college locally. I'd love to hear from anyone who: Has had a personal experience where they felt surveilled or like their data was used in ways they didn't fully consent to Works in a field (law enforcement, healthcare, education, tech, retail) where AI tools are being adopted and has thoughts on the process Has strong opinions — for or against — about how fast AI is moving into everyday life Just has a perspective on privacy in the digital age that they think deserves to be heard If you're open to chatting, feel free to comment or send me a DM. I'm happy to keep things anonymous if you'd prefer, just let me know. This is a student project, so nothing will be published without your knowledge and consent. Thank you all!
