Moving past the Sterling Bank and Remita breaches, it is now time to have an honest conversation about the state of cybersecurity in Nigeria. I want to speak to everyone. The institutions. The regulators. The builders. The practitioners. The founders. All of us. The Nigerian financial sector has spent the better part of a decade trying to align itself with global best practices. That effort is real, and it deserves acknowledgement. But the evidence from these breaches raises a question we cannot avoid: Are we building security, or are we building the appearance of it?
