NYT Readers - Mom's Favorite Sayings & Anecdotes - The New York Times

Catherine Pearson of The New York Times (Well/family) is compiling a Mother’s Day piece collecting readers' memories of their mothers' favorite sayings. She is seeking short anecdotes describing the motto or expression and what it meant to you — for example, whether it was funny, guiding, or memorable. What’s Your Mom’s Favorite Mantra? Share the go-to motto or oft-repeated bit of advice that has stayed with you throughout the years. “Can’t never could.” “It’ll all come out in the wash.” “Don’t take any wooden nickels.” Moms certainly have a way of putting things that sticks with you. And with Mother’s Day coming up, we are looking to collect the wisest (or wackiest) expressions that New York Times readers have learned from their mothers. What was her favorite saying or motto while you were growing up? Was it something funny that made sense to only you and your family? Or perhaps it was a profound maxim that brought you comfort or perspective? Let’s talk about mom mottos. What is or was your mom’s favorite expression? Can you tell us a little about what her go-to saying meant to you? For instance, did it make you laugh? Drive you crazy? Guide you through a tricky moment in your life?
