Owners of Dogs Fed Kirkland Nature's Domain - DCM Cases

Last summer I lost my dog Felix — a four and a half year old, healthy, pedigreed Weimaraner who'd been screened for cardiac issues by his breeder. The diagnosis was acute dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). He died in my arms the afternoon he was diagnosed, straining to breathe. Being a reporter, I needed to understand how this could happen to an otherwise healthy and well-cared for dog. What I found led me to the manufacturer of the dog food I used, an FDA investigation, and a class action lawsuit that will take place early next year. Last week, a federal class action was filed againstCostco Wholesale over its Kirkland Signature Nature's Domain grain-free dog food — including the Salmon and Sweet Potato formula— alleging the same cardiac risks I found in my own research. I'm writing about it — and I'd like to hear from anyone who's had a similar experience.
