Plumbing Expert on Outdoor Faucet Winterization for Washington Post
outside water question
Hello, I'm working on a story for The Washington Post. Question -- it's been a cold winter, but temps have been above freezing since yesterday afternoon and supposed to get up to 50 degrees today, before going well below freezing with highs only in the teens and 20s for at least a week.
My question is, for those who did not shut off water to their outside faucets and empty the faucets before the winter, is this 1.5 day period above freezing with high near 50 today warm enough, long enough, that it is advisable for people who didn't shut off their outside water and empty their faucets before the winter to do so now, in advance of a stretch of extreme cold incoming?
