Pokies Players, Families & Staff in Sydney - Pokie Room Documentary

Making a documentary about pokies in Australia: looking to talk to players, workers, families, and concerned community members (Sydney) Hi all, I am a filmmaker at the very early stages of an indie documentary about pokies in Australia. I'm not Australian myself. When I first got here, I remember being intrigued by those dedicated pokies rooms you find in pubs, tucked away with all the machines lit up. That curiosity is really what started this project. I want to understand what they mean to people and how they show up in everyday life. The focus will be on pokies pub culture, and probably the pokies rooms themselves. Rather than sit-down interviews, I'd love to follow people through their actual day-to-day and capture things as they naturally happen, at the pub, at home, wherever pokies come up in your life. Right now I'm just keen to: Talk to people and get their insight/perspective, even if you don't want to be filmed Connect with people who might be open to being filmed living their normal life, further down the track Hear from family members affected by someone else's gambling Chat with pub/club/venue staff who work around pokies Get pointed toward advocates, researchers, or community groups already working in this space No pressure for anything, even just a conversation to help me understand this properly would mean a lot. Comment or DM me. Thanks!
