Why is there so much cognitive dissonance around the supposed importance of continuing the human race, when the very real possibility of environmental disaster is basically ignored? I'm speaking mostly about birth rate obsessives, who tend to lie alone the Elon Musk -> Manosphere spectrum. They say they care deeply about how women aren't having enough children, but to what end? It's not that it's necessarily wrong to worry about the birth rate declining. But I wonder why the continuation of the literal planet is never an important enough part of that conversation to care about.
