Runfluencers - Quit Running Over Burnout & Comparison Culture
Runfluencers quitting running? Journalism request
Hi everyone,
I'm a freelance journalist working on a piece forThe Guardianabout fitness influencers and 'runfluencers' who have stepped back from running, scaled back their training, or taken a break from creating content around the sport.
I've noticed a few of creatorstalking about issuessuch as the pressure to post consistently, feeling unable to take time off, performing for social media rather than enjoying running, and the increasingly competitive nature of online running spaces affecting their relationship with the sport.
I'm interested in hearing whether anyone here has seen similar experiences from influencers they follow.Have any creators spoken openly about burnout, exercise addiction, comparison culture, or losing their love of running because of social media, and quit or taken a step back as a result? If so, I'd be v grateful to get their names from you!
I'll also be speaking with psychologists about healthy ways to navigate exercise addiction, comparison, and burnout - so I really hope it'll be a helpful read for people.
Thanks so much in advance!
