Student Grocery Theft & Retail Worker Insights for The Eyeopener

Do students steal at the grocery store? Grocery prices and thefts are both on the rise in Canada. The Eyeopener is working on a story covering this topic and we’re looking to speak with students who’ve stolen at the grocery store, whether that’s because of an inability to afford groceries, as ‘revenge’ against price-gouging retailers or even for another reason entirely. Students in the story will be granted anonymity if requested! If anyone is a a student retail worker, I’d also love to speak with you about how your store handles it, how you feel about it, to what extent you’re expected to stop it and if you even steal yourself.
