Are landlords jacking rents using CGT and negative gearing as excuse?
Hi, I'm a Guardian reporter looking into suggestions some landlords have increased rents using the CGT and negative gearing changes as justification. Is this happening?
If you or someone you know has faced a rent rise recently with this given as a reason, would love to hear from you - get in touch [email redacted] or signal (@)ittimani.11
I've heard mention of this but not seen any examples reported yet
For context, existing landlords do not face any direct economic cost from these changes - they get to keep negative gearing and their capital gains to date will get the old discount
