UK Woman Cake Shed Owner - Neighbour Complaints & Council Crackdown
**£££ ARE YOU A SUCCESSFUL CAKE SHED OWNER - BUT YOUR NEIGHBOURS HATE WHAT YOU DO?**
I'm searching for a lovely lady who has a super little business selling her homemade cakes from a stall / cabinet on her front drive via an honesty box system - but some of her neighbours hate her for it. Happy to consider an anonymous interview to protect your identity.
It's pegged on a story earlier this week that councils are about to decide on whether to be miserable killjoys and end the cake shed trend helping some women to make a good living.
Basically, many residents think these cake sheds are an absolute delight and applaud their owners for being so enterprising, while others think are a menace - they don't like the number of people turning up to buy cakes, claim these stalls don't currently have to adhere to food and trading standards, and could be a food poisoning risk. Others reckon that they attract rats and other pests.
The BBC even ran a story (linked below) citing councillors in Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire, who claim some shed owners might be earning as much as £90,000 a year and therefore should be liable for street trading regs and taxes.
