Unemployed 1+ Year Jobseekers - Stalled Listings & AI Impact

I've been thinking about this "low-hire, low-fire" job environment. I don't know about you, but an alarming number of my friends have been unemployed, searching for work, for a year -- if not longer. Often, job listings on LinkedIn and other sites are seemingly unfilled for months. For those with jobs, are you reluctant to leave out of fear of a shrinking workforce or competition with AI?
