University Podcasters - Teaching Practices & Pandemic Lessons
30 thoughts for 30 years
30 years ago I fell into higher education teaching, so here is a musing from that experience:
18 Podcasts
I'm a big fan of podcasts, they certainly help pass the time during my nearly two hour commute and while I walk in nearby woods trying to get through my daily steps. Most are comedy, but occasionally they involve politics, geography or history. When the pandemic hit and we had to teach from home it seemed that many more online meetings were organised, so that colleagues from all over the country, and indeed the world, could meet up and talk about 'stuff'. When eventually we went back to classroom teaching I missed those opportunities to chat to new people about the things they were doing, so I decided to start my own podcast and carry on. Now, four years and nearly 200 episodes later, it is still one of the highlights of my week and rare are the times when I don't end a recording better informed, more enthused and with a pocketful of ideas for my own teaching.
