US State Parks With Winter Activities for National Geographic
1. National Geographic - State Parks to visit in winter
I’m working on a piece for National Geographic about State Parks across the US to visit this winter. Please keep in mind, that while I’m happy to mention state parks that have holiday lights, trains, or other holiday-themed activities, this piece will publish after the new year, so I’m looking for parks that remain interesting and exciting after the holidays.
I’m open to parks across the US (in warm and cold climates), and am especially interested in hearing about parks that may offer:
- Extensive winter sport options (downhill skiing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing).
- Highly accessible winter activities, such as ice fishing that can accommodate visitors in wheelchairs, or adaptive ski set ups.
- Epic wildlife viewing
- Cozy cabins within the park that you can rent.
- Environmental education aspect, such as collecting data with a park ranger.
