Working part-time but wish you were full-time?
Hey Vermont,
Henry Epp here from the national public radio show Marketplace. It’s been awhile since I’ve dropped in here, but I’m still living in Vermont, reporting on national economic and business issues. I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me out with my next story.
I'm reporting on people working “part-time for economic reasons.” That’s the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ phrase for part-time workers who would prefer to be full-time, but have had their hours cut or can’t find full-time work.
The number of people in this situation has been slowly rising since early 2022, as you can see in this graph.
So, before the next jobs report comes out in two weeks, I’m hoping to talk to folks who are in this boat. Are you working part-time because you couldn’t find full-time work? If so, I’d love to talk with you and hear more about your situation.
Because this is a radio story, I’m hoping to record audio interviews with anyone who’s willing, and we’ll potentially include a few clips in this story.
If you’re interested, DM me here – or email me at hepp \[at\] marketplace \[dot\] org.
Thanks!
