Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a piece on performative femininity vs actual femininity, inspired by the Mrunal Thakur vs Bipasha Basu debacle. Their argument raises important questions on what actually defines femininity - a social construct, and through my article, I aim to understand real women's experiences with the same. I plan on speaking to women who find their femininity questioned and challenged for not adhering to societal definitions -- not looking conventionally feminine, choosing to become the breadwinner of the family, embracing body hair, keeping their hair short etc. I also wish to speak to a sociologist and psychologist to help decode this social construct and help me understand the real life implications of it.
